The South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are a British-controlled territory that serves as a foreign territory to the British and is located on the shores of the South Atlantic Ocean. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands consist of a chain and a region called South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands consist of an area of 165 km long, 35 km wide and 700 km south of Sandwich and covers an area of 1,506 square miles.
